Developing Maritime Cooperation through the Interreg Indian Ocean Program
A few days ago, the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion team visited Tanzania to engage with the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) and the port community of Dar es Salaam. As part of this journey, the French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce has hosted a significant meeting to initiate an exciting partnership between the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion, PMAESA (Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa) and the Chamber, under the Interreg VI Indian Ocean initiative.
Interreg is a key instrument of the European Union that fosters collaboration between regions and countries within and beyond the EU, enhancing mutual development. This cooperation programme aims to strengthen regional ties and is co-financed by the European Union and the Région Réunion.
In the coming months, this initiative will focus on equipping the Dar es Salaam port community with advanced professional skills and promoting the exchange of best practices. The ultimate goal is to elevate collective expertise, and support sustainable growth through targeted training and knowledge-sharing activities.
