On April 24, the French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce hosted a Tax and Finance Committee session to explore the new regulations governing the use of foreign currencies in Tanzania, published through Government Notice No. 198 of 2025 under the Bank of Tanzania Act (Cap. 197). The presentation was provided by our valued member KKB Attorneys.
These regulations, effective March 28, 2025, aim to standardize currency use in the country and reinforce the primacy of the Tanzanian shilling (TZS). They apply broadly to both local and foreign entities conducting domestic transactions.
