Event Report | Tax Reform Dialogue
On 9 April, the FTCC and partner chambers came together to consolidate the private sector's voice ahead of Tanzania's National Budget 2026/27
On 9 April, the French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) co-hosted a joint Tax Task Force session at Onomo Hotel in Dar es Salaam, bringing together the European Business Group TZ, the Switzerland-Tanzania Chamber of Commerce (STCC), and the British Business Group Tanzania around a shared objective: consolidating the private sector's voice ahead of the National Budget 2026/27.
The session was led in partnership with KKB Attorneys at Law, represented by Njile Bwana, who presented the consolidated submission compiled from members' contributions across the four chambers. The submission reflects months of collective work and captures the key tax-related challenges currently affecting businesses operating in Tanzania, along with concrete proposals for reform.
Discussions covered a wide range of issues raised by the private sector, including VAT refund delays, the complexity of certain tax procedures, transfer pricing concerns, and the need for greater predictability and transparency in the application of fiscal rules. Participants also reflected on the constructive engagement held with the Ministry of Finance in the lead-up to this session, and exchanged on how to maintain a coordinated dialogue throughout the budget process.
The workshop concluded with an opportunity for members to share final input ahead of the next stage of the process, ensuring that the joint submission accurately represents the realities and priorities of the business community.
The FTCC warmly thanks all participating chambers, KKB Attorneys at Law for their expert guidance, and the members who contributed their insights to make this collective engagement possible.
